Meter Flow Rates vs Viscosity

Use the chart below to determine the maximum meter flow rate based on meter bearing material and product viscosity:

  1. Identify the percentage of the rated capacity at which the meter will operate.
  2. Determine the product’s viscosity at the operating temperature.
  3. Plot the intersection of these two points on the chart.
  4. Compare this point with the slope corresponding to the meter bearing material.

If the point is above the slope, the pressure loss exceeds allowable limits. Consider using a larger meter, reducing the flow rate, or selecting different bearing materials.
